Bertha Blanche Watsabaugh

Born August 31, 1882 at Leon, Iowa.
Finished country school and attended Cedar Falls Normal School.
Married John Winfield Dunn and moved to Reno County, Kansas. Both John and Martha taught country school in Kansas for one year. John obtained job with railway mail in 1905. Separated from John in 1909.

John Winfield Dunn and Bertha Blanche Watsabaugh had two children:
Madge was born December 12, 1907 at Eldora, Iowa.
Keith Watsabaugh Dunn was born September 17, 1909 at Van Wert at the home of this grandparents.


Bertha taught school at Van Wert and Humeston from 1912 to 1918. Then Bertha obtained job as book keeper and assistant cashier at the Humeston State Bank till 1924.
Married Howard C. Smith on September 23, 1924 and moved to Jewell, Iowa. Howard Smith passed away on August 10, 1938.
Keith graduated at Jewell High School School in 1925. Keiffer Jr. came to live with Bertha and Howard Smith in 1936. Keiffer stayed with Bertha and graduated at Jewell High School.
